Best Invention Ever.. Almost.
Friday, August 31, 2007So yeah i was browseing the Star Tribune today and came across quite possibly one of the best inventions every created.
The Pedal Pub
Basically, it's a mini-van sized, mutliple rider powered vehicle. Right now they do pub tours with it and they're hoping to be classified along with limos and party busses so people can drink with riding on it. That would be epic.
I'll have to find out what a tour costs. Maybe I should look into investing. There's something very Slakerly about it!

Way. Too. Busy.
Monday, August 27, 2007So I did make it back from Michigan. The weekend ended up being pretty crappy since it rained for just about 48 hours straight. Mother Nature did a dang good job of screwing up my birthday weekend.
I come back from my trip to an association meeting where we finally get the bill for the the extra repairs that had to be done. $5,000 over the "fixed" amount the job was supposed to cost.
So yeah, happy birthday, you win a second job to try and keep you from going even deeper into debt.
So from this past Thursday until labor day, I am working at the Minnesota State Fair to make some extra money. On top of my normal 9am05pm professional job, I now clean ice cream machines from 9pm till 2am-ish.
I'm sure glad Puerto Rican Paulie is coming to town, I'm going to need to do some HARDCORE slacking come the day after Labor Day.
I need a nap.

To The Races Again!
Wednesday, August 15, 2007It's that time of year again, time to go camp, drink beer, and watch really fast cars go in a few hundred circles!
Tonight I head back to meet up with my fam, then The Dad and I head out to Michigan tomorrwo to camp out and see the NASCAR races at Michigan International Speedway.
It's always fun to take a nice, long weekend, especially when you can camp out with several thoushand other crazy, yet fun, fools. Really, it's kinda of a three to four day party. This year it has the added bonus of all leading up to my birthday on Sunday. With the copius amount of beer around the campsites, I have a feeling it's gonna be pretty crazy!
Anyway, gotta finish up here at work, but I'll definitely check back with some pictures after this weekend!

How to Make Thousands of People Gephyrophobic in Three Easy Steps.
Monday, August 06, 2007Step 1: Have a catastrophic, deadly failure of a major interstate bridge. Exhibit A
Step 2: Publicize the fact that the bridge taht collapsed was "structurally deficiant" and upwards of 25% of all the bridges in the nation may fall in that category. Exhibit B
Step 3: Actually publish a list of all the major bridges in the state that are rated "struturally deficient" so people can see that they drive over at least one of these bridges a couple times a day, every day. Exhibit C
Yes, it's just that easy. Now you too can join the ranks of the Gephyrophobics.
I'm quite certain the local chapter meetings are going to need a MUCH larger meeting space now.
My thoughts go out to all those affected once again.

I Don't Know What to Say.
Thursday, August 02, 2007Wow. I really don't know what to say. I do know that even with the crappy luck I've had with commutes and my car, that I really don't think I will ever earnestly complain ever again.
In case you haven't heard somehow, a huge bridge here in the Twin Cities collapsed while full of rush hour traffic. CNN reports on it here.
The bridge is for Interstate 35W crossing the Mississippi River. It collapsed at about 6:05 pm and had at minimum about 60 cars on it. This was THE major North/South highway artery through Minneapolis. They say upwards of 100,000 cars crossed that bridge daily. I know I've crossed that bridge countless numbers of times. I used to cross it at least twice daily when I was living downtown and going to the University of Minnesota.
Luckily, no one close to me was involved with the disaster. As far as I know yet, I don't personally know anyone involved. My best possible wishes do go out to anyone who does.
I'm still just... in awe.
