We splurge as well. I don't know how it gets out of hand. We make lists and check things off and it never seems like there's way too much ... until ... we're putting it all under the tree.

I think our mistake is starting in November and picking up an extra thing here and there each time we're out. It adds up.

The kids don't seem to mind.
